Jill Swain

Mom. Dog mom. Entrepreneur. Adoption advocate. Animal rescue extraordinaire. Jill is a woman of many hats, all of which are covered in animal hair.

A lifelong lover of animals, Jill began pet-sitting as a way to earn extra money while studying Animal Science at the University of Missouri. After graduating in 2008 with her Bachelor of Science, she began working full time as a Veterinary Assistant while continuing to expand her pet sitting efforts with the aim of eventually starting her own business.

It was during this time that she became involved in the world of rescue, beginning as a foster parent with Unchained Melodies, a mid-Missouri dog rescue organization which primarily seeks to end the suffering of chained and penned dogs, either through owner education or animal relinquishment. Eventually she would become the Assistant Director of Unchained Melodies, this in addition to her role as one of the founding board members of No Kill Columbia and its subsidiary, The Spay Neuter Project.

By 2013, after spending over seven years alongside a team of talented veterinary professionals, Jill was finally able to pursue pet sitting full time, and opened Creature Comforts of Columbia on May 1, 2013. Two years later Jill was recognized by her peers as the 2015 Pet Sitters International Pet Adoption Advocate of the Year. In July of 2021 Jill was featured in COMO Magazine as the "Person you should know".

Outside of work Jill is an avid foodie and napper. She loves traditional country and bluegrass music especially when it’s live and the crowd is small, and she loves being outdoors, exploring all the trails and natural beauty that Central Missouri has to offer with her dogs and her favorite humans.
