Dog Adventure Hikes in Columbia, MO

Make your dog's day with an adventure!

IndyBandana.webp

The best day of your dog's week

Some dogs need more than a neighborhood walk. For the runners, the sniffers, the swimmers, and the explorers, our adventure hikes are 90 minutes to 2 hours on shaded, nature-filled trails with a creek, where your dog can move, splash, and follow their nose on a long line that feels like freedom.

Your dog rides with one of our trained handlers to a carefully chosen trail, and the whole adventure belongs to them. This is a private outing, never a pack hike, so our handler's full attention is on dogs from your household only. We pick the trail and set the pace around your dog's fitness, age, and personality, and you get photos and a report card from the trail, usually featuring one very happy, very tired dog.

Who adventure hikes are for

Active dogs who crave enrichment, working breeds who need a job, young dogs with energy to burn, and any dog whose people want to give them something special. Your dog comes home tired, content, and mentally fulfilled, which often means a calmer house for days.

One honest note: while each hike is private, we do share the trail with other people and dogs. For everyone's safety, we can only accept friendly dogs who are comfortable being handled and controlled in that setting. If you're not sure whether your dog qualifies, ask us. The meet and greet is exactly for that.

Frequently asked questions

  • Where do the hikes happen? On shaded trails in and around Columbia with natural terrain and creek access. We rotate locations based on weather, trail conditions, and what your dog enjoys most.

  • Will my dog be off leash? No, and that's on purpose. Your dog explores on a long line, which gives them room to run and sniff with the safety of a connected handler the entire time.

  • Is my dog fit enough for a 2 hour hike? We match the pace and distance to your dog, and plenty of our hikers spend part of the time wading and sniffing rather than covering miles. If your dog is a senior or new to exercise, we'll recommend starting with 90 minutes.

  • How often do dogs go on adventures? Some go weekly as their standing enrichment day. Others go once or twice a month, or as a special treat when their people are slammed at work. There's no minimum.

  • What do I need to provide? Just your dog. We handle transportation, water, treats if you allow them, and a towel-off before they come back inside.
